While the Xbox 360 is a great console through and through, many gamers unfortunately experienced the consoles biggest downfall the “Red Ring of Death”. Luckily, Microsoft offered consumers an extended warranty for the worldwide issue, and allowed consumers to replace their consoles with refurbished units; however, what does one do with the console if you are out of the warranty period? Well tossing it in the bin is always an option, or you could pay a certain fee to repair it; however, you could always get creative and try a few of the below mentioned ideas to make use of your dead Xbox 360.
Sell it as spare parts:
One thing consumers can do is sell off their dead Xbox 360 to various repair facilities. Most repair facilities will not give you a large amount of cash for your parts; however, it is a start to gain some much needed funds to purchase a new console. I have noticed that a few repair facilities will be interested in purchasing your old power supply and then see what they can salvage from your dead Xbox 360.
Use your console to decorate your living space:
Due the Xbox 360 being a rather visually appealing piece of hardware you can utilise your dead Xbox 360 in order to decorate your living space. Framing your very first console is great way to incorporate a dead Xbox 360 into your living space. Additionally, if you have quite a few consoles lying around you can create some rather unique looking coffee tables.
Use it as a game spacer:
Books have book spacers, why can’t games have game spacers? If you have an attractive glass cabinet, 2x dead Xbox 360’s and a horde load of gaming titles this is definitely a unique way to utilise those dead Xbox 360 consoles.
Use it as a door stop:
While this is not the most creative use we have come up with, it still works like a charm. Additionally, friends and family generally have a “WTF” look of their face when they come into your home and see a rather pricey piece of equipment being utilised as a door stop.
Turn it into a toaster:
A while back a modder by the name of “akatheguy2” cloaked his Xbox 360 as fully functional gaming toaster; however as your Xbox may be dead, you could always slice and dice your dead Xbox 360 and turn it into a fully functional kitchen appliance to compliment your Xbox 360 coffee tables.
Use it for photography purposes:
While I am a keen photographer, I did not entirely want to use a working Xbox 360 to use as a photography prop. This was due to the possibility of the Xbox 360 obtaining damage from hardware shoots and so on. If you own a website or blog this is the perfect way to take some great photos using your dead Xbox 360 without damaging, or moving around your current working consoles.
Store your favourite wine within the casing:
Before you ask… bottled wine is not suitable for this; however, if you strip out the inner components of your dead Xbox 360 it can become the new home of your favourite boxed wine.
While these are indeed some great ways to utilise your dead Xbox 360, please use your own discretion when attempting any of them. Have you come up with any interesting ideas to utilise your dead Xbox 360? Let us know in the comments below.
