Titanfall no longer releasing in South Africa

Respawn Entertainment’s highly-anticipated first-person shooter, Titanfall will no longer be releasing in South Africa, according to EA South Africa’s latest Facebook post and several leaked Origin emails. The mech- and parkour-based shooter was cancelled for South African release after online tests showed that South Africa’s internet performance would not suffice for the title’s gameplay.

The full Facebook post is as follows:

After conducting recent online tests for Titanfall, we found that the performance rates in South Africa were not as high as we need to guarantee a great experience, so we have decided not to release Titanfall in South Africa at this time.

We understand this is a disappointment for local fans and will keep fans posted on any future plans regarding the release of Titanfall in South Africa

Several Origin users who ordered the game digitally were also greeted by a less than positive email in their inboxes, stating a similar reason for the cancellation of their orders. Origin user flash-hazardous shared the linked email on image-sharing site Imgur.

Other than the Facebook post, no other comment has been issued by EA South Africa which may point to a later release or Titanfall even coming to South Africa.

You know what’s most annoying about this. That our post about this was late because of freaking load shedding. LOVE YOU SOUTH AFRICA.
